“One of the most interesting things about Elizabeth Turner was her Kiss of Death. Throughout the trilogy, all of the men she locked lips with has died - including Sao Feng in At World’s End, and (if you want to be petty about it) her father, Weatherby Swann. Usually they would die moments after kissing her for the first time. This excludes Will Turner who has kissed her several times before and beat the odds every time. However, even he succumbed to her kiss and died as well minutes after the two were hastily married by Barbossa.

This is most likely a just coincidence and not something that was intentional, but years later it’s still fun to point out to friends and watch a dawn of realization hit their face when they realize that Pirate Queen Elizabeth may have also been the Grim Reaper.”

Alot of people seem to miss these two additional details:

  1. The kiss of death only works when she’s on a boat (she never kissed Will on a boat until their wedding)
  2. When the effect does kick in, the killing is preformed by the crew of the Dutchman.

When Jack died, he was killed by the Kraken, summoned by Davy Jones.

When Sao Feng died, was by the damage from the canons of the Dutchman

When Norrington died, it was by Bootstrap Bill, a member of it’s crew.

And when Will died, it was directly by the hands of Davy Jones.

One more thing that has struck me as odd is when she interracts with Davy Jones, he acts as if he’s seen her somewhere before. When the Empress crew point her out as the captain he has a sort of “wtf, you, you are their captain?” reaction, now you could just shake that of as Davy Jones being a misogynistic but i don’t doubt he’s seen female pirate captains before, given how long he’s lived. And when they come face to face on the Dutchman, it feels like a meeting between sworn long time enemies (at least to me).

Elizabeth, what the hell are you even and what exactly is your connection to the Dutchman.

you guys don’t even care about hazel, whenever you talk about the trauma of the hades kids, you’re almost always referring to nico, as if hazel wasn’t born at an awfully shitty time for a little girl like her and she wasn’t literally crushed to death. both nico and hazel are kids who went through traumatic shit but only one of them gets talked about… and even then, nico is blatantly out of character and evolved into less of a character and person and more of a ball of trauma when he never acted as such in canon

You know what, looking back on it, my friends and I survived the Bush Presidency

We would have survived a McCain Presidency

We would have survived a Romney Presidency

I honestly worry that there are some people who would not survive a Trump Presidency

I don’t care how much you love Gary Johnson, or Jill Stein. On November 8, 2016, one of two things will be true: either Hillary Clinton will be elected President, or Donald Trump will be elected President.

Which one, HONESTLY, would be worse?

This isn’t the year to “vote your conscience.”

There’s a fucking dangerous man one election away from being President.

This is the year to vote to survive.

Any other year, this would be an exaggeration. We survived Bush, we could have survived McCain or Romney. This year, Trump’s danger is no exaggeration.

Don’t vote your conscience, vote to survive.

We will not, not, NOT SURVIVE Trump.

The LGBT community will not survive.

The communities of middle eastern descent will not survive.

Women, especially women who want a right to choose, will not survive.

The black community will not survive.

The latino community will not survive.

The disabled community will not survive.

I guarantee that there are more groups.

We as a country will not survive a Trump-Pence Presidency

The poor will not survive

Please understand that Trump plans to not only do what the US did to Japanese Americans in WWII on a massive level with Mexicans and Muslims but also destroy the economy with it

Somehow this post is going around again and it’s appeared on my own dash and I still think Trump is going to kill us all. Y'all’s protest votes did nothing.

Hey look it’s my post from 2016

Now that it’s almost 2020, can you see that this wasn’t a fucking exaggeration

Do you understand now

This is going around again and now that we’re in the Democratic Primaries and y'all are already saying about how you’ll stay home if you’re favorite doesn’t win I’d just like to remind y'all that people are dying in the Trump administration

People are dying in concentration camps at the border

Trump rolled back Obamacare and now millions more people are without insurance

Trump is rolling back environmental regulations and climate change and pollution will kill us

States are banning abortion which will affect millions of poor women and women of color and SCOTUS night overturn Roe v Wade

Hate crimes against Jews and people of color and LGBT people are going up

There are Nazis in the White House and marching in the streets

And Trump has given tax cuts to billionaires and appointed judges that will take away your constitutional rights

Are you happy with your choice to vote third party? To stay home? Was it worth it? Was all of this worth it?

We’re facing the same choice again. We can’t have four more years of this.

Fight like hell for your candidate in the primaries. Then if and when they lose, get in line behind the winner.

We failed in 2016. The life and death stakes in 2020 are even higher.

Vote. For. Democrats.

The first sentiment in this post has gotten more literal as 2020 wears on.

I haven’t even updated this post to reflect the pandemic because I just

Tens of thousands of people are dead y'all. Obama and Biden had an entire infrastructure, a system to deal with pandemics and Trump abolished the office and ignored reports of the virus for months

When the curve of infections increases exponentially, even acting one day earlier could have saved thousands of lives

And Trump ignored it for months

Unemployment is now higher than at any time since the great depression

I knew people would die but I never imagined that Trump would be responsible for this many deaths and the worst economic disaster in a century

We have to vote for Biden. I don’t like Biden. I wanted someone progressive. Someone who didn’t sexually assault someone. But this is literally life and death.

(also Ruth Bader Ginsburg is 87 years old and has been hospitalized multiple times in the last year and we cannot allow Trump to appoint her replacement on the Supreme Court or continue giving lifetime appointments to judges to lower Federal courts)

This whole post y’all

So far over 130,000 people have not survived a Trump presidency. And that number is still skyrocketing.

What’s going to make you happy right now? Is it some cake? Is it a nap? Is it calling your mom? Is it going on a drive and blasting music? Is it taking a bath? Is it reading a book?

Check in with yourself because you deserve that happiness, whatever it is.

I use this with my hospice patients a lot. Because “is there anything I can do to help?” rarely gets a response. But, “I’ll be here till 6:30 and would like to do one thing to make your room more comfortable before I head out” frequently does get an answer. Often something they deem “too small to bug anyone with” like closing the blinds so there’s no reflection on the tv, or repositioning their socks because the heels have wandered into the front and are uncomfortable, or they want ice cream before dinner today, or getting an extra blanket.

I also use this on myself. What’s one thing I could do to make my environment more comfortable right now? Does it cure my mental illness? Hell no! Does it make me feel more in control of my feelings and the world around me? You betcha!

If you would report an undocumented immigrant to ICE you would have reported me to the Nazis and I don’t fucking trust you

A note:

I live in a state where you “have to” report anyone you suspect of being undocumented (that wonderful hellhole of Arizona). Now in practice this law has fallen far short, thank goodness. But if you live in such a place and they start enforcing it, here is how you get around it:

Assume everyone who doesn’t speak English is visiting.

Never ask about their job, because if they tell you they work here then you know they’re not visiting. You see them a lot for several weeks or months? Hm. Someone in the family must be ill. That’s terribly tough. They always dress in old, ratty laborers’ clothes? I feel you, my dude, I can’t afford new clothes either, and my dad has the fashion sense of an aardvark, so sometimes it’s not even about “affording” them. They say they’ve been here for years? You must have misunderstood. Spanish isn’t your first language, after all. First and last name? It never came up, or you don’t recall–you meet a lot of people.

And then, if you’re asked: no, you haven’t seen anyone residing illegally in the United States. Just people visiting.

Very good very important addition

Essentially, this is the civil society version of a work-to-rule strike.

Don’t do more than is expressly asked of you, and do what you are asked with such an intense attention to protocol that not asking you at all becomes more effective than even bothering.

In this case:

“Have you seen an illegal immigrant?”

“Could you describe an illegal immigrant, officer?”

*officer describes a person who is in the country without appropriate paperwork, or who has crossed the border illegally*

“No, sir, I haven’t seen any illegal immigrant.”

And this is correct. You have NOT seen an illegal immigrant, because you have no way of knowing if Jose Fulano is here legally or not. And since you can’t see his paperwork (or lack thereof), and did not personally see him cross the border illegally, you are only answering precisely the question asked.

I’m not American, and I have like, three followers, but this is important.

a surprising amount of really important activism rests on your ability to lie convincingly to people in authority

hey all- i’m really not usually one to do this at all, but i’m in like a not good situation right now and i will be getting kicked out of my home on October 1. I don’t really have a great job right now and my car was repossessed, so finding a place to live for myself and my dog is proving to be difficult. I am currently looking for a new job, but if you are feeling inclined, any help i could get i would greatly greatly appreciate. this is the link to my venmo & my paypal.

no pressure at all, again anything is appreciated.
